DRG Continues On-Time Performance at Houston Intercontinental Airport
Diversity Resources Group (DRG), in conjunction with strategic partner Benco Commercial Roofing, continues to produce on schedule at one of its latest roofing projects at Houston’s Intercontinental Airport. The roofing project, which is a part of Manhattan’s larger scope of work in building the new United Airlines terminal at the airport, was awarded by Manhattan to DRG based on the company’s ability to self perform work in addition to its quality workmanship.
“The influx of business our partnership is experiencing is a direct combination of market growth and, most importantly, the ability of DRG to self-perform the work,” said DRG Vice President Bert Nunez. Nunez went on to say, “We’ve always said what will distinguish us from other MBE firms is our tolerance for risk and the ability to complete our own work. Large majority firms want partners to add value, not replace staff.”
DRG’s scope of work at Intercontinental Airport includes installation of a new metal roof for the new terminal. DRG currently employs 17 roofers on-site in Houston, working in the extreme Texas heat while producing on-time work in a safe environment.
Features of the new terminal include floor-to-ceiling windows in the new concourse, offering soaring tarmac views, while expansive gate-lounge areas will provide higher levels of comfort. 20 new dining and retail options near boarding gates will give Houstonians and travelers connecting through the airport more of the varied options they enjoy.
The $244 million project will create a 265,000-square-foot facility, more than 100,000 square feet larger than the existing Terminal C North, with 11 passenger boarding gates to accommodate a mix of United’s narrow-, mid- and wide-body aircraft.
